The Residential Experience: Core Training for Residential Staff

The Residential Experience is Alera Institute’s foundational training for staff working in group homes, treatment programs, and residential youth settings. Built on the Staff-First Systems Change framework, this course helps direct care staff understand their role, strengthen professional presence, and create consistent, healing environments for youth. Participants learn to respond to behavior through presence instead of power, maintain clear boundaries, and support safety, structure, and connection on every shift. Who it’s for: Direct care and relief staff in residential programs. Format: Short text lessons, reflections, quizzes, and a downloadable certificate of completion.
